Every year the International Clarinet Association (ICA) brings together hundreds of clarinetists from around the world for 5 days to experience various aspects of the instrument, always sharing music with participants and society. It's the largest meeting of clarinetists on the globe, the ClarinetFest, which involves renowned guests and groups representing different countries. This year, the event was held in Orlando, Florida, USA, from 26 to 30 July.

Among many groups registered all the world, OPC was one of the few selected to participate in the event. This was the first time an choir of Brazilian clarinetists participated. It was also the largest delegation of Brazilians in the history of the event.

The group's proposal was to present genuinely Brazilian songs, with focus on northeastern music (unknown by the public).

OFFICIAL CONCERT

July 14, 2017

After almost a year of intense work and many campaigns go to ClarinetFest 2017, OPC closed this cycle with a commemorative concert, grateful for the success of this trip and the support of all those who collaborated with this project.

OPC also had the participation of talented singer Bia Vilar from Brazil, singing "O Xote das Meninas" by Luiz Gonzaga and "Trevo" de Anavitória.

In the program, OPC also performed works by Sivuca, Hermeto Pascoal, Duda, Severino Araújo, Gordurinha and Julião Barbosa, like "Chiclete com Banana", "Feira de Mangaio", "Bebê", "Nivaldo no Choro", "Emboscada" etc.

CONCERT AND "SOM DA MATA"

The OPC performed a concert in "Som da Mata" on May 28, announcing the campaign for the trip to the ClarinetFest 2017 and the goal of promoting northeastern music.

The "Som da Mata" project had its first edition on July 2, 2006, with performances of instrumental music by local artists in Pau-brasil Amphitheater of Parque das Dunas, always on Sunday afternoon. On its stage, approximately 140 musical groups of the most diverse genres have already appeared, from Bossa Nova to Rock, Choro, Pop, Samba or Classic, always instrumental. The Som da Mata was conceived by cultural producer Marcos Sá de Paula, who also signs the Production Directorate and is the owner of the registered trademark at INPI - National Institute of Industrial Property.

The OPC played an eclectic repertoire. From erudite music to popular Northeastern music, including Sivuca, Hermeto Pascoal, Duda, Severino Araújo, Gordurinha and Julião Barbosa, with works such as "Chiclete com Banana", "Feira de Mangaio", "Bebê", "Nivaldo no Choro" "Emboscada", etc.

SOLIDARITY

April 22, 2017

The OPC held on April 22 (Sat) a great lunch with the participation of renowned potiguar artists such as Khrystal, Pádua Family, Junior Primate, Darlan Marley, Everson Ferreira and more.

 

The lunch, held at School of Music (Federal University), aims to raise funds to help the group's trip to ClarinetFest 2017.

CLARINET CHOIR IN THE MOUNTAINS

The members of the OPC integrated the great Clarinet Choir, formed by teachers and other participants of the Brazilian Meeting of Clarinetists and Bass Clarinetists, held in Poços de Caldas (MG). This concert was the closing the meeting and opening the 18th Music Festival in the Mountains.
